Medetai Card (Multiple Sizes)
Congratulations. You did it. This one's for you.
In Japan, the tai — a striking red sea bream — is no ordinary fish. Its name carries the sound of medetai (めでたい): a word that means auspicious, joyous, worthy of celebration. For centuries, it's been the centerpiece of celebratory meals, a symbol of good fortune, and a quiet way of saying something wonderful is happening here.
Printed by hand using linocut stamps on sustainable cardstock made from recycled fabric, so it's compostable too!
Reach for it when:
- You want to say I'm so proud of you without having to find the words
- For the birthdays, promotions, and milestones that deserved to be remembered
There's multiple ways to use it:
- Your standard greeting card
- Frame it as a piece of artwork
- Pass it around as a Yosegaki Shikishi (7"x7"): a Japanese tradition of having loved ones collectively sign a card as a shared gesture of celebration, then displaying it as a lasting keepsake
Dimension
Regular: 5" x 7", Shikishi: 7" x 7"
